Rosalinda Vianzon Advincula

Obituary

Rosalinda Advincula, 43, of Oakland, CA died Wednesday September 27, 2017 of severe complications following childbirth.

Born September 3, 1974 in the Philippines, she was the only daughter of Benita Advincula and the late Eduardo Advincula, whom she dearly loved. The three surviving daughters are Akasha, Maya, and a new born named in her honor, Rosalinda. She shared a very special life with her loving partner, Miles Tarver, who is the father of the new born.  Rosa has four older brothers, Noel, Rommel, Joel, and Ross.

Rosa came to the U.S. at the age of 12 and lived in San Francisco. She graduated from the San Francisco School of the Arts in 1992 where she studied dance. She received a B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University in 1997. She was passionate about dancing, fitness, basketball, writing, and fashion.

Rosa made a huge impact and touched many lives in the time she worked, bringing language access to Californians by working with the United Domestic Workers, AFSCME, Local 3930, and the Alameda Central Labor Council. Most recently, Rosa was a Senior Vice President of Organizational Development at the Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union.  Prior to this, she held a variety of positions in the banking, labor, education, teaching and real estate industries.

Rosa cherished time with her family and friends and touched countless lives over the years. She served as a role model for many, especially her daughters, for having resilience, positivity, kindness, spirituality, and her unconditional love. Because of the person that she was, there has been an incredible outpouring of love from the community.  Her family wants to express their gratitude for this profound support.
